Peace in the Streets: September Bike Party!
It's a Bike Party for peace, for we are all pieces of the puzzle, and peace is patriotic. No wars required to power this ride -- we run on peace-fuel! There will be peace signs aplenty as we cruise the Cruz. Peaceful (pieceful?) attire encouraged. Slices of the peace pie, peas in the peace pod.
Is peace just a word? A state of mind? A passe new age concept? We've got that peaceful easy feeling and we're ready to roll. We'll end the ride at a pizzeria for pieces of pizza pie.
Peace out!
What
Santa Cruz Bike Party is a mobile party for riders of all ages, experience levels, and types to meet, ride, and play together in the streets. Rides are 7-10 miles long with music and dance breaks along the way. Rides move at a relatively slow pace and no one is left behind. Each ride has a theme and riders are encouraged to wear costumes or decorate their bikes to fit the theme.
Where
SC Bike Party starts and ends outside the Bike Church at 703 Pacific Ave downtown. The route is not the same every time, but each month organizers will post the route online ahead of time in case anyone misses the start and wants to catch up.
When
Once per month, all year long. We meet at 7pm every second Friday of the month. Rides usually leave about 7:15 and last about 2 hours.
How
The atmosphere of the SC Bike Party is fun, friendly, welcoming, and safe. Our goal is to celebrate cycling and build community, not to cause conflict with car drivers. Please help us maintain a positive and safe atmosphere by keeping in mind the following guidelines:
– Stay to the Right / Stop at Lights – This is not Critical Mass. Please stay to the right on 2-lane roads, or in the right lane on larger roads.
– Ride Straight – Please help avoid crashes by riding predictably, without any sudden turns or stops.
– Don’t Hate – Please roll past any conflict that might present itself during the ride.
– Pack your Trash – Bike partiers aspire to leave party stops in better condition than we found them.
– Don’t Get Smashed – Riding while inebriated poses a danger to yourself and others. Don’t ruin the fun for everyone else by overdoing it.
Bring
Lights – Rides are at night, so let’s make sure to be visible.
Locks – No bikes have been stolen from the SC Bike Party, but during breaks better to be safe than sorry.
Layers – As we all know Santa Cruz evenings can get damp and chilly.
Water, snacks – Our stops are not always near stores, so best to bring what you need.
Tube, patch kit, pump, tools – The ride is unsupported; please come prepared.

The Wildercat Bike Race
A bike race around Santa Cruz city and mountains. Not for the feint of heart. for lovers of fun in the sun.
WHAT it is: It's an allycat race ya dingus! Dont know what that is? It's a checkpoint race. need more info? Google it!
Really, this is an allycat race that will be on road, and off road. The course is different then the last one, and has more off road sections, but road bikes will still work. The course is of course top secret but as usual its greater then 15 miles, but less then 30. The checkpoint information will become available when you get your manifest for registration. So, pick what kind of bike you think would be best. cross/road/mtn etc. and come race!
WHERE: The race will begin at University Terrace Park. Look for an easy up, and bike people. The race itself will cover the city of Santa Cruz and the dirt that remains on its periphery. The race will end at an address TBA. There there will be an after party with food, beer and of course awesome prizes.
WHEN: SUNDAY September 6th!!! A little less then one month away. We are going to show up at 11am. Registration begins at 11:30am. Get there early to get your place in line, and a map/spoke card/hangout. We will be doing registration until we have a pre-race announcement about some aspects of the race. Make sure you pay attention, because there might be some important information that could make or break a victory!
HOW: you ride a bike, and have a good time. pretty simple.
We are asking a $10-20 sliding scale entry fee. This is going towards prizes, beer, food, materials, and anything left over towards the inaugural season of The Cycledelicats cx season.
WHO: This race is being hosted by The Cycledelicats. Never heard of us? That's impossible, because a couple months ago we hosted a bike race you might have been to.
WHY: Because Santa Cruz is cool. You are cool. We are pretty cool. So lets have a good time.
If you cannot race, but can give us a hand let us know. We are looking for people to be awesome checkpoint people!
